Football Season

How Football Season Can Be an Opportunity

Football is the connection point almost every business skips.

I came across a marketing idea that I think could be really fun for you guys to play with this fall. ๐Ÿˆ

The example was all about football season: instead of waiting until December to reach out to customers, businesses can use something people are already paying attention to as a natural reason to show up in their feed.

And I think there’s a really easy way to translate that to what you do here.

The idea isn’t “post about football.” ๐Ÿ˜‚ It’s: find something happening in your customers’ world, then connect it naturally to your work.

Since we have estheticians, waxing pros, hairstylists, etc., here are a few ways you could try it if it feels like your thing:

1. Use the season as your hook

Think: fall transitions, back-to-school, football season, holidays coming up, cooler weather, wedding season, etc.

Example:
“Football season is back, which means Sunday plans are officially a thing again. ๐Ÿ‘€ Here’s your reminder to book that brow/wax/hair sparkle appointment before your weekend plans.”

2. Connect your service to an actual moment

Instead of “Book your appointment,” give people a reason why now.

  • Game-day hair
  • Fall wedding/event prep
  • Back-to-school glow-up
  • First-date prep
  • Girls’ night
  • Holiday-party prep
  • Vacation prep
  • “I have plans this weekend” emergencies ๐Ÿ˜‚

3. Show the behind-the-scenes

Your Stories don't always need to be polished.

Show:

  • Your station before a client
  • Products you're loving
  • A transformation
  • Your setup for a busy day
  • Something funny that happened
  • “POV: everyone suddenly wants to be ready for fall”
  • A quick tip related to the season๏ปฟ

4. Make the customer the main character

Think about what your client is doing, not just what service you're selling.

Instead of:
“Waxing appointments available Thursday.”

Try:
“Going to the game Saturday? Girls’ night? First date? Whatever the plan is, don't wait until Friday afternoon to remember you wanted to be smooth. ๐Ÿ˜‚”

5. Find the “unexpected” posting window

This was my favorite takeaway from the original idea.

December is an obvious time to talk about gifting, beauty, hair, etc. But everyone is doing it then.

What can you talk about now, while it's still unexpected?

A September/October “get ready for fall” post can feel much more natural than a December “BOOK NOW FOR THE HOLIDAYS” post.

6. Turn one idea into a mini Story

You could literally do:

Story 1: “Football season is officially here ๐Ÿˆ”

Story 2: “Which means weekend plans are about to multiply…”

Story 3: “And suddenly everyone needs their hair/brows/wax/etc. done ๐Ÿ˜‚”

Story 4: “If you have something coming up, here's your reminder to book ahead ๐Ÿ‘‡”

The bigger takeaway: you don't have to make every post an advertisement for your business. Find something your clients already care about, join that conversation, and let your business naturally become part of it.

If you try this, I'd love to see what you come up with! ๐Ÿ‘€

If you take one thing seriously in your local marketing, let it be this. " According to Moz, your Google Business Profile (GBP) is the single largest factor influencing your local search ranking." Translation? If someone nearby searches: “lash artist near me” “esthetician in Colorado Springs” “nail tech downtown” or even your business name Your Google Business Profile is what determines whether you show up, or disappear. If you’re a hairstylist, esthetician, injector, lash artist, or med-spa provider, here’s the simple truth: Local SEO is how clients in your area find you before they ever DM you. When someone types: “balayage near me” “lip filler Colorado Springs” “acne facial Briargate” “best lash extensions downtown” Google decides who shows up first. And that decision is heavily influenced by local SEO . Let’s break this down in a way that actually makes sense for your day-to-day business.
